• I have just installed WordPress on my BlueHost site: https://www.creativesimplelife.com

Everything is working well, except that when I add a new page and title it “Blog” I’m unable to access it and instead get the message:
    Index of /blog

Please click on the blog page to see what I mean. I am totally new to WordPress and have minimal understanding of how to edit the codes through bluehost (although I think I’m starting to figure it out). Any idea why this is happening?

    Please help!

  • Do you have a folder in your site’s root domain folder called blog?

Yes. It contains another folder titled wp-content, which contains 2 folders named plugins and themes.

Then you’ll need to name your new Page something other than “Blog”.

There is no other way around this? Why do I have this folder named blog? Wouldn’t everyone else have this issue as well?

WordPress installs by default don’t have a folder called blog. That would be something that came from your creation, or someone working for you. Most likely you first had your WordPress installed at yourdomain.com/blog instead of just yourdomain.com and then you either uninstalled it or moved it.

Most likely you don’t need that folder and can delete it, but to be safe, first rename it to another name then check to see if your site is broken on the public or admin side. Then you can delete it.
