My website, timyoung.ca is right now responding by taking me to “index of” with
the file “wordpress/” below. Checking my file manager, the wordpress folder is within the public_html folder. What do I need to do to have my website come up
    after typing in my URL?

    Thanks.

It looks like you’re missing WordPress’ index.php, among other files. Did this site ever work?

It did work although at one time I could enter the website by clicking on the wordpress folder after getting the “index of” opening page. After messing about,
moving folders and files, I end up at the current state.

Would it be easier to start again? If so, presuming I get the “index of” page again, how would I remedy things to get the website directly?

    Thanks.

Given that you don’t exactly know what you did and you’re in a hole, stop digging. Delete it all and start again.

I used the wordpress reset plugin and am now presented with the info below
on my initial webpage. Does this mean I need to go further back and reinstall
    wordpress?

    Index of /wordpress

    Parent Directory
    wp-activate.php
    wp-admin/
    wp-blog-header.php
    wp-comments-post.php
    wp-config-sample.php
    wp-config.php
    wp-content/
    wp-cron.php
    wp-includes/
    wp-links-opml.php
    wp-load.php
    wp-login.php

I have gone back to the beginning and reinstalled wordpress and still on opening my website, am presented with—

    Index of /

    wordpress/

When I click on wordpress/, I get the “Hello World” section. Can you suggest how to change things to directly go there?

    Thanks.

As you’ve installed WP in a subdirectory, you need to follow this guide:

I have it sorted out now, finally. Thanks very much.
