Hi! I just read similar issues posted by other users. my questions for both web stories just published are:
in search console, if i click “live test” everything is valid, but the “URL inspections” show AMP and breadcrumbs being invalid.
which result should i rely on?
also would you give me some tips on how i could solve the breadcrumbs issue? it shows :
    missing field “item”
either “item” or “item name” should be specified
i defined “web stories” in yoast stories archive.
maybe i am missing something? thank you so much!

Another question: is the breadcrumbs issue critical or not so much? Thank you!

    Hi @rainbow15,

Thanks for getting in touch! When using Yoast SEO, it is solely responsible for printing breadcrumbs on your pages, including Web Stories. They’ve recently made some changes to breadcrumbs, as outlined at https://yoast.com/help/breadcrumb-changes-yoast-seo/.

There might still be issues with those changes, so I highly recommend you to reach out to their support team for assistance here. Let me know if you need anything from us based upon their reply.

    Thank you!

    Thank you Bethany!

    Would you clarify –
    1. “live test” everything is valid, but the “URL inspections” show AMP and breadcrumbs being invalid.
which result should i rely on?

    2. Isn’t breadcrumbs structure already there even if we don’t use SEO plugin? In that case if we disable yoast breadcrumbs printing, it should still be automatically there would it?

@rainbow15 Sure thing! Please see below.

    1. “live test” everything is valid, but the “URL inspections” show AMP and breadcrumbs being invalid.
which result should i rely on?

Can you clarify what URL inspections tool you are referring to here?

    2. Isn’t breadcrumbs structure already there even if we don’t use SEO plugin? In that case if we disable yoast breadcrumbs printing, it should still be automatically there would it?

WordPress and Web Stories do not automatically generate any kind of breadcrumbs. Turning off Yoast’s breadcrumbs feature would turn breadcrumbs off on your site completely.

thank you bethany! both “live test” and “URL inspections” are on the same URL inspection page in google search console, which is why i don’t understand why one validated and the other didn’t.

    Hi @rainbow15,

Thanks for clarifying! Unfortunately I don’t have a ton of insight on why the results would be different, but Search Console support may know more. The best bet for validation specific to Web Stories is to test using https://search.google.com/test/amp, which is specifically for AMP-based content like Web Stories.

Got it. Thank you so much Bethany for your help!

Of course! I’ll mark this topic as resolved, but feel free to open a new one if you have any other questions.
