Index.html causes Page Not Found error on root site and one subsite, rest fine

    Hi there, I have a curious problem.

    I am getting a page not found error on the front end of the root site and one of the subdomains subsites. 20 other subsites are fine.
    I have deleted the erroneous subsite and its subdomain and recreated it but the error persists. It seems to be looking for an index.html file but I do not know where it is being told to do so. I changed its static home page but no luck. I changed the home page to the posts page, same error.

    Any ideas?
