Increase timeout?
-
I’m using Office 365 to send authenticated email. It normally works great since setting it up about a month ago. Yesterday we had one instance where it timed out. Not sure why. The fallback method is set to do direct send to our MX Record which essentially by passes authentication and could get marked as junk if not handled with care (I have a rule that marks it safe in this case). Since the recipient was internal that worked for this particular case immediately after the failure. The result was the display name of the sender looked a bit different to the person that received it.
Looking at the logs it says it timed out on the first attempt and that’s why it went to fallback. I don’t see any other occurrence of that in recent history. Interestingly, Office 365 did respond I have a session transcript, but I see no failure in the transcript. Not sure if I should look to increase the TCP Connection Timeout especially if it normally works well. It would be nice if there was an option to retry once rather than immediately use the fallback method. Thoughts?
