This has to do with all the pages of my website.
I recently activated the plugin for the USA region.

Next thing I know is that my users per day are the same but the page views shot up by 4 times for all of the pages. The bounce rates dropped to 3% which was 80% earlier. and the time spent on page went from an avg of 6-8min to 40 sec.

Can you please advise what might have happened and how I could rectify my results on Google Analytics?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi @baryflawless,

It seems that the Google Analytics script is loaded twice. This explains why your pageviews have increased (at least they should have doubled). This can occur when you choose to let Complianz handle the GA script, but forget to disable any previously made implementations. The Complianz Dashboard should provide notice of this issue. Removing the second implementation should solve the pageviews issue.

Complianz loads the GA script (and other blocked content) at the bottom of the page. This is done to prevent performance impact by Complianz. Another upside of loading the GA script in the footer is that you won’t measure bounces that occur before the page is even loaded. This can explain why you see a small decrease in bounce rate.

I can’t explain why Complianz would influence time spent on page.

Please let me know if you need any further help on deleting the double GA implementation and if this solves most of the statistics issues.

    Kind regards,
    Leon

    Hi,

To summarize, as a solution, I simply remove the original GA script that is loaded by me when I set up my site?

I use Google Tag Manager as well, do I need to disable that as well?

    Thanks!

    Hi @baryflawless,

Yes, removing the original GA script will solve the statistics problems.

Did you enter your GTM code in Complianz? The most convenient way would be to set up Complianz with GTM. This way, you can ask consent per category of cookies and use Tag Manager events to fire scripts based on consent.

To set this up, please refer to our article about this subject:
    https://complianz.io/configuring-categories-for-tag-manager/

    Good luck!

    Regards,
    Leon

While I ran the wizard, the GA and GTM codes were auto picked up.
Where in setting of Complianz can I see if the GA and GTM are configured via Complianz?

@baryflawless You can check this in the Complianz wizard under Cookies -> Statistics and Statistics – Configuration.

    Thanks for that.

In the Statistics configuration, I see only the placeholder for the Google Analytics code. However, I don’t see anything for the GTM (Tag Manager code). Does Complianz also handle tag manager?

@baryflawless if you have select “Tag Manager” as the statistics tool, you can enter the TM code.

If you need both, you can leave Tag Manager as it is. As long as you don’t have both your own code and Complianz at the same time, that should work fine.

@baryflawless Did you manage to solve the problem with Analytics?

Hi, I needed to leave the change in place to check the analytics for a day or two.

I can now confirm that the page views are back to normal.

Thank you for your speedy support. The plugin is now on my site doing its job well!
