increase homepage content area max-width

In the “Additional CSS” part of the dashboard add this:

.home .panel-content .wrap {
    max-width: 49%;
}

Currently the content size is about “49%” width. You can change that number to suit your own size.

whilst this does indeed work quite well for desktop. it makes problems when resizing to mobile with too much padding left and right forcing the text to be too narrowly compressed. any ideas?
