    Hi ,

I set my Amount of time a user is locked out in login security options at 12h.
This works as i look at the tab locked out it indeed blocks for 12 hours.

But is it possible to increase the time an ip is blocked in the ips blocked from accessing the site in the blocked view , that are blocked by the Wordfence Security Network in the live traffic view ?

As of now it only blocks them for 10 minutes. is this possible to increase?

    Thanks
Love the wordfence new updates ??

  • Hi Dieter,
You should be able to adjust this time by changing the value for “How long is an IP address blocked when it breaks a rule” in the plugin’s options page which will affect the IPs blocked by Wordfence Security Network.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

    Thanks for the reply.
It is strange the option “How long is an IP address blocked when it breaks a rule” is set to 30 minutes and the other one “Amount of time a user is locked out” at 12 hours.

Still in the blocked view in wordfence the ip’s that are blocked for example 3 minutes ago are blocked for 7 remaining minutes so 10 min total block time. the ones that are with reason : Blocked by Wordfence Security Network under the “IPs blocked from accessing the site” section.

Whatever i change in the settings it only blocks for 10 minutes always. :/

    Thanks!

So, you have IPs being blocked by “Wordfence Security Network” appearing in (Wordfence > Blocking => Blocked IPs)? sharing a screenshot would be helpful in this case.

    Thanks.

I don’t have a blocked ip to show now but it is in this tab : see image 1 :
    Image 1
so when there is an ip there with as reason : Blocked by Wordfence Security Network. It is blocked for 10 full minutes. is it possible to increase these 10 minutes?

My settings are like this :

    Thanks already for the help.

    Hi Dieter,
One of my colleagues helped me verifying that IPs blocked by “Wordfence Security Network” will be blocked for the time set in “How long is an IP address blocked when it breaks a rule”, for example, check this screenshot.

I’m not sure why it’s not working on your website though! could you please try changing it from 30 minutes to something like an hour and re-check this issue?

    Thanks.

    Hi!

    Thanks for the info.
i changed it from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
Once an ip is blocked i can check if it helped.
    I let you know ??

    Thanks

    Hi

I checked it and now i think it blocks correctly.
I’ll check when i have more attacks.

Is 2 hours a good block time?
or do i make it a full day 24h?

    Thanks
    Dieter

    Hi Dieter,
A full day sounds a little bit aggressive, we use a duration between 5 minutes and 1 hour on our own production websites. This is enough time to limit the malicious activity an IP can engage in. It is important to note that IP addresses are dynamically assigned on the Internet. So if you block someone using a certain IP address, they may switch to using a different IP in a day or two and a new user who is not engaging in malicious activity who is assigned the IP you have blocked may then be prevented from accessing your site if you have set this duration very long.

    Thanks.

    Hi ,

    Thanks
i set it to 2 Hours.
That seems to fix the 10 minute problem i had.
when i check now on all my 20+ sites i see they are blocked for 2 hours.

Thanks for the info and help
    i mark it as solved.

    Dieter
