Increase accuracy for India (and maybe for other countries)

    Hi Paul,

    Thanks so much for a great plugin!

    I am trying to display content only for India and it seems like it is not working properly. When I’m changing from India to other countries (US, Spain) it seems like it is not an issue. I am testing it with Hola and Hidemyass.

    I believe that the problem is with the ip2nation database, as some of the results incorrectly stated that they U. S. servers, instead of the countries the servers were actually situated in (India in my case).

    I saw that @peterstein877 asked the same question and that @superjany wrote about it:

    I wonder if he ever sent you the DB that he is using or if you have any recommendation/suggestion for me?

    We will probably rebuild this plugin and use a more reliable geodata source, but it’s finding the resources to allocate to this. If we did offer this, would it be something you’d be happy to pay for with a yearly subscription?

    Thanks for your response. Yes, this is definitely something that I’d be happy to pay for. And I think that other people would be happy to pay for it as well.

    Meanwhile, what I did was update manually the database table (ip2nation) with additional records. I took this list of additional records from the link that’s in this article: https://www.insight-things.com/increase-accuracy-custom-content-country-icontrolwp/

    If you decide to go forward with a rebuild for the plugin, please let me know when you expect for it to be released ??

    It wouldn’t be anything crazy, probably a nominal yearly subscription to keep up with dev costs and any additional costs associated with geo-data if applicable. No crazy pricing, I promise. Our iControlWP pricing would hopefully show we’re pretty fair. Watch this space ??

    Defo worth considering. I’ve just been testing this plugin and returned countries did not match more than 50% IPs I’ve checked..

    1681641 is showing as Switzerland – should be Sydney, Australia
    16817525 is showing as Switzerland – should be Melbourne, Australia
    1042381699 is showing as USA – should be UK, London
    3124226217 is showing as Saudi Arabia – should be UK, Southampton
    172986774 is showing as USA – should be Canada, Toronto
    1731996514 is showing as USA – should be Canada, Montreal

    Yea, it’s a bit of an investment to do this level of development with little indication that many would want it…
