    Hi!
I am a new user to WooCommerce Services and trying to get my correct tax rate to populate using “Enable Automated Taxes.” I have confirmed with the state of Illinois that I should be charging 9% total tax (based on my location 60118) for all sales within Illinois (and nothing yet for other states). However, the tax rate that is being calculated is 11% and I am unable to override that.

The good news is that it is not charging tax for outside Illinois purchases – so I just need to figure out inside Illinois.
    Thanks!

    Hi there,

    Thanks for reaching out.

WooCommerce Services relies on TaxJar for automated taxes, so whatever the rate is in TaxJar is what the plugin is going to output. I would recommend reaching out to TaxJar to get some further information on why they are calculating the rate the way they are and informing them of what the state has informed you. That way, TaxJar can make the appropriate changes if need be…

    Hope this helps!

Thanks for getting back to me – I did reach out and have not received a response back. I wonder if they will respond as I don’t have an actual paying account with them. Is there any way to override this error in the mean time with some other settings?
    1. I want to charge a flat rate of 9% to any customer in Illinois
    2. I don’t want to charge any tax to any customer outside of Illinois.
    Thanks!

    Hi @landscapelightingoutlet

Thanks for the reply! WooCommerce Services uses automatic rates from TaxJar for each State. You can click on the State you’d like to obtain more information on how taxes are calculated:

    https://www.taxjar.com/states/

That said, if you want to manually configure taxes, you’ll have to disable automated taxes under WooCommerce > Settings > Taxes then use the Standard Rates to manually set up taxes:

    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/setting-up-taxes-in-woocommerce/#section-13

    Thanks again,
