    Good morning,
i have a problem with orders as I noticed that the system skips the progressive number of some orders and I wanted to understand why and if in this case they are considered lost orders. I attach a screenshot.
    Thank you

  • Order numbers are the same thing as Product, Post and Page IDs – WordPress crates a unique ID for each entry in the database.

The missing numbers will have been assigned to something else – maybe you added a new product or a blog post between the orders for example.

Don’t worry – it doesn’t mean you have lost any orders!

But in this case nothing has been done on the site, nor pages, contents or posts added so I don’t understand why there are no progressive numbers in the orders

It has – it may well be a background process that’s doing it but the database has been updated – could be a revision, a plugin saving a log etc.

This is just the way WordPress works – order numbers are not gapless. Just the same as, for example, Page IDs aren’t – just had a quick look on one of my sites and there is a jump from 91 to 361 in the pages – that’s because other things were done between adding those pages.

There are a couple of plugins to change the order numbers like this one:

ok thanks, I happened to notice that an order from a customer paid via PayPal and not by credit card did not arrive by email like the others, what problem could it be?

    Hi there @grafema,

I understand that you’re experiencing issues with receiving an order notification from a placed order using PayPal.

Just to understand the issue even further, do orders made using credit card still send the email notifications? Also, could you try making a test order using PayPal and confirm that the order notification email is also not sent from the test order?

This way, we’ll be able to identify the possible cause of the issue.

Hoping to hear from you soon.

Hi there. We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – we’ll be here if and/or when you are ready to continue.
