• Hi,
I think basic functionality is there, few quirks to solve like:
    a. have a backup of around 600 Mb splitted in 7 parts.
I press Part 1 and it downloads file xxx.part002.zip.
I press Part 2 and it downloads file xxx.part001.zip.

I think the UX would require a link between Part number and file number.

    Hi @taraweb

Thanks for your feedback and review.

have a backup of around 600 Mb splitted in 7 parts.

That is because some options in WPvivid settings were optimized by default to avoid hitting limitations with some web hosts.

And you do have full control over this by tweaking WPvivid Settings,

To finally get a single backup file, you can modify the following WPvivid plugin settings,

    In Advanced Settings

    1. Set ‘Compress files every’ to 0 MB,
    2. Uncheck the option ‘Enable optimization mode for web hosting/shared hosting’

    In General Settings

    1. Check the option ‘Merge all the backup files into single package’

However, please note that the above settings are only recommended for sites with sufficient server resources.

I think the UX would require a link between Part number and file number

In fact, there is no correspondence between the two numbers.

Part number is the number of backup files you finally get.

While the File number is the number of backup files of each item(core, wp-content, uploads, themes, plugins, db) according to the size you set to split files at.

Anyway, in the free version, you will need to download all the backup parts in a set(if any), and upload them at a time to restore.

Hope this helps you better understand the plugin. Feel free to let us know if you have any issues using it.

This is the problem. There should be a correspondence IMO. The fact that there is no correspondence is not good UX.

    Hi @taraweb

    Just a quick update,

After discussing it, we decided to redesign the Download section for better UX.

Thanks for helping improve the plugin!

    Just as a note.
Yesterday I was having a 600 Mb backup and it created 3 files of aprox. sizes of 150 Mb, 110 Mb and 60 Mb.

Today I am having a backup of around 240 Mb that it splitted in 2 files of 67 Mb and 57 Mb (total size is less than the 150 Mb from above).

It would be nice if there would be an option of not splitting the archive up to a configurable amount.
The above that happened does not help at all.

    Thank you,

    Hi @taraweb

As discussed earlier, we have redesigned the Download section and released a new version – 0.9.48. Please update the plugin and check it out.

It would be nice if there would be an option of not splitting the archive up to a configurable amount.

Sorry, I just saw this note when I came to update you about the new release. The option you are saying about is already there, you can find it in WPvivid Settings > Advanced Settings > ‘Compress files every’.
