  • I used the link provided by StarliteWriter above.

From here, click on Add a Property, then add your url in the box.
Then it gives you a choice of methods to verify ownership of the website. The easiest for me to understand was add a meta tag. I clicked on that, then next and it gave me a long tag and told me to add it to the <head> portion of my site, which in WordPress is in the header.php. I did that, clicked Verify and that worked.

When I went back to my dashboard and tried from there again, the profile for that url came up.

    I hope that helps.

    Still no go.

I got this issue because of the lock on Outbound Port 80/443. I asked my hosting to unlock the port. Now, Its fixed

    Thank you !!

susanalynn: You are talking about a different problem involving authorizing your site with Google search console. I had no problem with that.

I am talking about the correct website URL showing for “Current Settings” under Yoast Search Console.

Siva: Which is the problem you solved?

Having the same issue. Keep getting new auth codes and keep being told it’s incorrect.

This is clearly a bug. I wish someone at Yoast would take a look at this forum and address the many issues people are having. Free is one thing. Abandoned is another entirely.

I wrote a couple of times to they’re customers services for an issue with the ? who they’re not recognize be they re plugin and with this error, THE ANSWER WAS… WE CAN’T HELP FOR THIS, IF YOU NEED MORE HELP BUY THE PREMIUM PLUGIN.

habibzafari14, this is the exact same problem I am having.

The correct urls only showed for 6 out of 20 of my websites.

There are a number of problems that can cause this same issue.

    1. You first need to add your site as a property to Google Search Console (formerly known as Google Webmaster Tools). This ensures the profile that we want to connect too exists and gets verified.

    2. If your property is already correctly entered, but the BUTTON will not work, it is likely a browser issue. Please try a different browser.

    3. You can improve the odds of the connection happening correctly if you log into Google Search Console BEFORE attempting to make the connection. This avoids several problems.

    4. If the WRONG profile has gotten attached – it may be very challenging to get the RIGHT property profile attached if you have not taken these steps to manually clear the GSC code: https://kb.yoast.com/article/136-how-can-i-reset-the-auth-code-for-webmaster-tools

    Hi Kim

Exactly the same problem. I have set up everything correctly as you’ve outlined. However in the search console tab of your plugin the verification never works.

    Hi Everyone

Not sure if this will help but I had the same issue and spend a while reading about this and no solution. Then I selected the code and paste it as plain text and it worked. I don’t know if this might help you but it helped me and I did nothing else, other then copy and paste the code.
