Some inconsistency with WP Super Cache. Sometimes the video appears and sometimes it doesn’t. When the video does not appear, the dark overlay does appear.

There is also inconsistency from post to post and from page type to page type. On some post pages, the video will appear. On other post pages, only the overlay appears. The video usually does not appear on category pages. The video usually does appear on the home page.

If WP Super Cache is emptied, then the video again appears on all pages. That’s all I know. Those are the symptoms.

Important: if visitor is logged in, then the video always appears. If visitor is not logged in, then the video appears inconsistently.

WP Super Cache does not serve cached pages to logged-in visitors, per a setting, so I bet the problem has to do with caching.

Well yes, as you already described yourself, sounds like a problem with WP Super Cache caching. Sounds like clearing the cache fixes the problem.

From your response, what it ‘sounds like’ is either choosing to not use the caching plug-in or to not use your plug-in.

Constantly clearing the cache removes the caching functionality from the site. And caching plug-in authors don’t build for every plug-in to work with the caching plug-in. It’s the other way around, and you know that, chief. Fair enough. Use one or the other. That’s essentially your response, but it falls far short of being a resolution.

Instead of admitting that your plug-in is effectively unusable with WP Super Cache, you probably should have just ignored my original post. No one wants to receive a response that essentially says, “too bad, tough luck.”

I understood your post as “clearing the cache resulted in everything working fine” meaning that from then on posts were being cached together with their featured video. Many others did report just that: Clearing the cache once after initially setting up FVP fixed the problem. Will take a look at this plugin combination again..
