Inconsistent Broken Permalink Pages
-
Occassionally, I get a broken permalink page. The post shows up on the main page fine but when you click on the link for the permalink page, it responds with an error message. I forgot to cut and paste the error message but it was something to the effect of ‘Sorry, no posts matched your criteria.’
The fix that seems to work is to save the post as draft and then republish it.
It’s particulary frustrating because I don’t notice the error unless I try to click on the permalink page so it could go unnoticed and just be annoying readers that want to comment and/or read the rest of the post and simply can’t get there. And it’s annoying because it’s hard for me to easily watch for the error–who visits every permalink page on their blog?
The other pertinent troubleshooting information: it’s a multi-author blog running on 1.5.1.3 but I had it happen on an earlier version–probably 1.5 but I can’t recall the exact version for sure. The other author does most of his composing on PDA and then syncs his posts. (I can get more details of how he does that if it’s relevant.)
When republishing, I’ve also changed the location of the <!-More-> tag from the line between paragraphs to the beginning of the next paragraph, though that fix does not work by itself. I still have to save as draft and then republish. (Each time that I’ve noticed the error, it’s had the more tag in use, but that’s most of our posts so that may be just coincidence.)
I check my database often and clean up any overhead (and never have any in anything besides the Options table and the Bad Behavior Plugin table).
I have not changed any core code and it’s only a few random posts. 99% of my posts display fine.
I don’t have a current example to link to because I fixed the most recent occurance. If it happens again before someone replies with the solution, I’ll link to an example.
Thanks.
