• What does it mean? And what do I do about it? And how do I prevent it from happening? It happens on log-in attempts.

I am not a programmer, coder, or anything of the sort. I design Web pages, but do not handle scripts.

    Here’s the message:

Parse error: parse error in /home/cust2/user1420560/html/02138blog/wp-admin/index.php on line 165

    Thanks for any assistance.

  • I’d suspect a corrupted file. Try to re-upload a fresh copy of that file.

On a second thought: there is no line 165 in the index.php file of wp-admin folder… so, I am a bit confused.

Thanks for the reply. I’ve been traveling and just saw your response. In fact, despite my avowed ignorance, I know enough to have looked at the php script and saw that there was no line 165, so my mystification was only deeper. I finally solved the problem (in any event it went away) by updating to 2.5. The new installation seemed to solve whatever was causing this strange message, and also, more importantly, permitted me once again to login to my own blog…
