Incomplete Donation Reporting
-
I have upgraded to version 4.0.1 and the donation reporting is incomplete. I have received notification from PayPal of donations that are not reflected in the Seamless Donations report. Help!
-
I updated the plugin to version 4.0.7 and made a donation. The donation is not reflected in “donations” and below is the log:

2015-08-31 13:20:39 Redirecting to PayPal… now! You’re initiating the transaction properly, and your IPN URL is reachable. So you should get a response back from PayPal, but PayPal isn’t talking to you. What happens once you get to PayPal after hitting the submit button? Are you going through the entire process? Do you make it back to the Thank You page?
Can you look at your PayPal logs and see if they show any error?
Upon submission I am redirected to PayPal to complete the transaction and then sent back to our website’s “thank you” page. As a donor I receive confirmation e-mails from PayPal on behalf of our organization and as a PayPal user confirming the transaction. There are only two donations listed on the “donations” or “donors” page and they are dated 10/6/14 & 6/1/15.
Any chance you’re using something like PayPal Express or something other than a classic PayPal account? The reason I ask is that PayPal isn’t even tickling your IPN responder (the thing that needs to trigger to complete a transaction). It’s not that the transaction is failing, according to your log, PayPal isn’t even talking back.
I tested your IPN, and it’s alive, but PayPal isn’t talking to it. When I run the IPN URL through PayPal’s IPN simulator, I get the error “We’re sorry, but there’s an HTTP error. Please try again.” When I Googled that message, I found a number of people with similar errors, and it seems to be something related to hosting provider configurations. Another post said there was a problem with redirects.
I’m thinking it might be worthwhile for you to test with other plugins off and see if that helps. It also might be the case that there’s just some mystery incompatibility and you’ll need to look for a different host or a different donations plugin (which is probably the easier choice).
