I (rather stupidly) upgraded my WP to 5.0 only to be shocked by the new Gutenberg editor. I then found and installed this plugin, hoping my problems would be immediately solved but no, they weren’t.

After some playing around, I discovered that Yoast plugin prevents Disable Gutenberg (and Classic Editor for that matter) from working properly. When Yoast is enabled, I get a blank editor window, even though there is content there. I also can’t add anything to that window as it’s completely unresponsive. When Yoast is disabled, the plugin works fine.

No, is this something that is a problem on my end or has anyone else seen this? How can this be solved? Turns out, these two plugins I can’t live without. Thanks in advance!

Glad to help. I’m not sure what may be happening, but if you can find any related errors it will be very useful.

    • Look for any errors or warnings (in your site/server logs) that happen when you experience the reported issue
    • Look for any errors in your site’s WP debug log (or on-screen display)

Then of course, I would report this issue with the developers of the Yoast plugin. They may be able to help further.

Let me know if I can provide any further infos, glad to help however possible.

Hey @vaszeit, I spent some time investigating this, but could not replicate the reported issue. Everything as far as I can tell is working perfectly. This is testing on default WP v5.0 along with Yoast 9.2.1. You can verify this by setting up a quick 5-minute WP install, leave everything at defaults, then install both plugins and try again; you will see the two plugins work great together.

Most likely the reported issue is due to some other factor, like perhaps interference from another plugin, or maybe something the theme is doing. In which case your best bet is to do some basic troubelshooting. Let me know if I can provide any further infos, glad to help however possible.

Thank you for looking into this. I will do a more thorough investigation on my end.
