    Hi,

    Thanks for looking at UpdraftPlus.

I assume that you are referring to this issue: https://updraftplus.com/faqs/the-modal-windows-that-updraftplus-opens-cant-be-clicked-on-they-are-greyed-out/

When this happens, it is the *other* plugin that contains explicit code to prevent other plugins (like UpdraftPlus) from loading their own CSS stylesheets, and which instead force their own CSS stylesheets on the settings pages of other plugins. There’s not a lot that UpdraftPlus can do to prevent that (though, it contains some steps to try). In fact, the only other plugins/themes that we are aware of that do this are a very recent release by Photocrati/Nextgen, and they have promised to fix their plugin/theme with an early January release.

As such, the issue really should be reported against the other plugin/theme – it’s not something UpdraftPlus is doing, but something dumped on top of UpdraftPlus. As such, your review is very harsh. In fact, other site admins were willing to go through the procedure to find the culprit, and reported it to Photocrati, and as I say, Photocrati have promised an imminent fix to their product.

    Best wishes,
    David

    Regarding the plugins …
    WPML Multilingual CMS
    Google XML Sitemaps

both work, but updraftplus does not work with either of these plugins enabled. That is on one site.

    Redirection

On another site, again the redirection works, but UpdraftPlus does not with that plugin enabled.

Both sites are on Avada theme, which is a very popular theme.

Is it always the other plugin’s fault? UpdraftPlus plugin, when it works, is outstanding. If one has to disable plugins to configure your plugin, the product is pretty much unusable, hence the review.

    Hi Sean,

Thanks for supplying the specific information. I have downloaded, installed and activated all these plugins and the Avada theme, at the same time. I was not able to reproduce any faults – UpdraftPlus ran smoothly, and redirection worked whether it was active or inactive.

Thus, I think there must be something else going on on your particular site which is the true cause of the problems you are having. Some of those plugins are extremely popular (in fact, I had one already installed and active permanently on the site I tested on), and if there was a conflict between them and UpdraftPlus, I’d be expecting to see a lot of reports (UpdraftPlus is installed on over 100,000 websites) – the only plugin/theme we’ve confirmed a conflict with is recent Photocrati releases, which they confirmed was a bug on their side and they are releasing a fix for at the start of January (possibly already).

    Best wishes,
    David

We have 3 unrelated sites that UpDraftPlus has been removed from due to the the issues mentioned. Two sites use Avada, one uses a custom theme. A feature that may help the plugin is a public support forum that is allows folks like me who are evaluating the plugin to resolve conflict issues. I talked to another site admin who had issues with UpDraftPlus, could not find support, and moved on to another solution. How many people downloaded this plugin, found it did not work, and moved on?

    Hi Poniard,

Good morning! For the public support forum, click on the link “Support Threads” on the side of this page. It’s used frequently by many people.

You can also access it by clicking on the “Support” link that you’ll find at the top of the UpdraftPlus settings page. There’s also a prominent “Support” link at the top of every page on updraftplus.com, and a “Support” link in the regular place on the plugin’s www.remarpro.com page. Feel free to post there!

    Best wishes,
    David

    Hi,

If you de-install UpdraftPlus, and re-install (it’ll still be version 1.9.46), then does the same still happen? I recently added some code to try to pro-actively detect + prevent other plugins from placing their styling code on UpdraftPlus’s settings page.

    David

Indeed it did fix 2 of the sites. Thanks!

The 3rd site, seems to only conflict with the WPML Multilingual CMS plugin.
In IE and Chrome the settings page spins and does not load.

    From the console:
Uncaught Error: cannot call methods on dialog prior to initialization; attempted to call method ‘isOpen’

    load-scripts.php?c=1&load[]=jquery-core,jquery-migrate,utils,jquery-ui-core,jquery-ui-widget,jquery…:

Not sure if that helps or not.

    Hi,

If that message does come from UpdraftPlus, then there’s only one place it could come from – I’ve added a block around it to catch it, if so. However, I think even if it is from UD, then it couldn’t stop the page loading. When you get an eternal spinning page, it’s usually caused by a misbehaving proxy at the web hosting company level. However, you may as well try – please de-install/re-install again (I’m assuming you’re on the free version – I only pushed the change to the free version).

    David

The behaviour of the eternal spinning is what I observed on the 3 separate sites. Two sites are with one hosting service, the other a separate service. The spinning observed on the UpdraftPlus plugin goes away when I disabled the conflicting plugins.

    I de-installed/re-installed, it still persists.

    Hi,

If you can share a backup set with me (e.g. via Dropbox or Google Drive), then I can use the backup to clone the site onto one of my test servers, and take a look. (So, I guess you’d need to temporarily de-activate WPML, then take backup, then re-activate). (You can send the Dropbox etc. link to contact at updraftplus.com – but, a note for anyone else reading this, that isn’t an email address for general support requests; please use the forum!).

    Hi,

I restored this backup set (thank you), activated WPML, and all in UpdraftPlus was working fine. Screenshots:

Thank you for your support David. It is much appreciated. I have changed my review.
