Incompatible with All in One SEO

    Additional information relevant to All in One SEO compatibility issue reported in a previous post. Solution currently unknown.

    Summary of Issue: When All in One SEO plugin is active, users are unable to sign up for slots. They can see the list of events and they can see the list of slots open (“view & sign up”). However, when they click “Sign up” on a slot, there is no output.

    To assist others who may work on debugging this in the future, here are my findings so far:

    • This page uses the task_id and date URL variables, but these do not appear to be the root cause of the conflict. The AIOSEO plugin code does not contain the text “task_id” but does contain code referencing the “date” URL variable. As part of troubleshooting I tried renaming “date” URL variable to “pta_date” within the PTA Volunteer Sign Up Sheets plugin, but that did not change the behavior.
    • Problem persists when AIOSEO and Volunteer Sign Up Sheets are the only plugins active, so it is definitely an incompatibility about these two plugins.

    This sounds like an issue with the AIOSEO plugin, and should be reported to their developers. There is no reason that their plugin should be intercepting simple URL arguments from other plugins and preventing them from functioning properly (if that is indeed the case).

    When you click on a sign-up link, you say there is no output. What exactly is happening? Does the page refresh and just show nothing? Is the date argument still present in the URL? Or is the date URL somehow stripped out by AIOSEO? When you hover over a “sign up” link, are you seeing all the URL arguments in your browser info bar?

    I don’t see how this is something I can fix in my plugin if it’s their plugin that is somehow stripping or altering the URL arguments. I personally never use SEO plugins, but most clients I have worked with use Yoast and there was never any problems conflicting with that.
