The Events Manager 5.4.4. plugin has some incompatibilities with WooCommerce 2.0.12/2.0.13. It breaks the keywords search for products. It still gives search results, but with a lot of errormessages: “Warning: Illegal offset type in isset or empty in…”

Disabling the Events Manager plugin fixes the problem. Switching back to the default theme doesn’t fix anything.

Is there any way to fix this?

    – EM only has cpt’s event and location.

    – maybe you can also try to delete your e-commerce plugin (if possible)

these shouldn’t conflict, our cpts should be differently named to theirs and that’s perfectly fine to do.

if you’re not getting the exact same error @tvandervalk is getting, pls start a new thread, otherwise try my suggestions above (plugins/themes)

Hi, this is a relatively fresh site (still in development) with only a small amount of plugins. No previously installed e-commerce plugins, beside the currently installed WooCommerce.

I deactived all other plugins and stil have the errormessage. A search results page showing the errors is this one: https://www.concepten.biz/menskracht7/?s=searchkeyword&post_type=product

The screen shots of the settings are here (in Dutch!):

BTW: this is version 5.4.4. I’ve tried 5.4.4.2. on a clone of the site.

Thanks for your help, Marcus. I appreciate the amount of effort your putting into this issue. I’m ordering the PRO edition this afternoon.

Marcus, I just upgraded to PRO. Would you like me to move this issue to the PRO forum?

    Hiya,

Feel free to leave the thread here – it’s better to have the history and others can see if they have the same issue.

I’ve also just tried this myself with a fresh installation of WooCommerce.

Having done some searching, I can see this error occurring in other plugins due to conflicts. For example, between a Custom Post Types plugin and WPML. I’ve also found other WooCommerce users with the same error.

It occurs when WordPress attempts to retrieve a custom post type and suggests that a post type hasn’t been registered correctly.

Do you have any other plugins, or theme functions.php code creating post types? Can you make sure everything other than WP itself, EM and WooCommerce are deactivated and try again?

    Thanks,
    Phil

Hi Phil, the problem persists with only EM and WooCommerce activated. I use the Maxima theme by Goodlayers. I think it creates custom post types for stuff like testimonials and personnel. Switching to the default “twenty twelve” theme doesn’t make a difference (still errors). Deactivating Events Manager does get rid of the error message, but I would like to keep the EM plugin.

    Hey @tvandervalk

    Firstly, thanks for going pro!

Could I take a look at your install? If we can reproduce the problem, that’s the hardest part over. If you can submit FTP info, I may be able to hot-fix it on your site too.

If you could open up new bug report on our pro forums (so we can reply faster to you), reference this page for posterity, and then could you send us the relevant info via the ‘Submit Login Info’ link at the top of the pro support forum page.

great, already connected to your site and will sort that out soon. will continue on pro ??

Haha great marketing strategy Marcus… leave us who have a similar question in the dark unless we buy the pro version ??

I’m pretty sure if the problem turns out to be something not exclusive to TvanderValk’s site Marcus will post an update here.

If it needs a bug fix it’ll appear in a future upgrade to the free version of EM – it’s not related to the PRO version, that’s just where we have a secure form for submitting login info.

no it’s because we monitor the questions more frequently on pro forums and reply faster, so pro customers should use that to sort out their issue faster.

we’re still working on this issue, if it’s a bug we’ll certainly fix it.

btw, this is now fixed on TvanderValk’s site and we know why it’s happening to him.

the problem is related to the fact that his URL contained post_type=product, if you removed it, e.g.

    https://www.concepten.biz/menskracht7/?s=searchkeyword

it worked fine. can you all confirm this is the same for you?
