• Very useful plugin, thank you.

Two issues, the first is far more important to me:

    1) It would be great if the notification e-mail could include the recent changelog for the plugins with available updates. Checking the changelog is the first thing I do – to check any incompatibilities, see how urgent it is (is it a security update?), assess any likely impacts. So, every time the updates e-mail comes, I’m off to Google to type in “Foo WordPress plugin changelog”.
The WP update mechanism has this facility, so I’m presuming there’s code that could be re-used from there.

    2) The update notifier always fires before I’ve had a chance to configure the plugin – resulting in an e-mail going to the e-mail address before I get a chance to change it. Once I changed the site address first to try to stop this (it confuses the site owner when I’m managing the site for them), but it still went to them so I’m not sure where the plugin is picking the address from. But in any case, it’d be handy if the first e-mail didn’t go out so quickly. e.g. Check if 15 minutes have passed since the plugin was installed?

    Thanks for considering these.

I love the feedback and I’ll work on getting all of the above implemented for you.

As for the changelog how about I put a link to it along with a details link.

I will see how wordpress is doing the compatibility check and get that in if I can.

Would you be happy if the first scan was scheduled after one hour has passed from plugin activation? Also maybe I should add a manual update check button?

    That sounds great, thank you.

It would be best if the email contained the changelog extract, but even just the link is better than nothing, it saves a step.

Manual update – I can’t see any use for that; WordPress already has a screen to show updates.

The idea of the updater is to provide quick email updates notifications. If I include the changelog text it makes the email very long. Plus some plugins don’t have a changelog…

I’m sure a link to changelog and details page along with WP compatability check should suffice. I’ve actually just completed the code for all the above suggestions. Just need to test.

Hopefully a release this weekend some time ??

Whatever you come up with I’ll be grateful because it’ll save me time. Having the changelog in the email body would make it a bit ugly and unwieldy. But how about as attachments (where they exist, that is)? And it could be configured by an option for people who still don’t want it. I’d also like the moon on a stick. And dancing unicorns. Thank you! ??
