Include updated date on sidebar?

Hello,

I am wondering if it is possible to echo the “Updated Date” of a page on say a sidebar, or into the header file..

Like, inside the header.php file, I have a sidebar before the content, Under the link for the page, It says (Updated January 29th, 2008), is there a code I could insert here like.. <?php page_example(updated_date); ?> or something along the lines?

I noticed that the updated date is stored in the administration panel, surely there must be someway to assign this information to a variable or something.
