Inaccurate Share counts – Fluctuating up and down in short time

    Share counts are inaccurate and fluctuate up and down within a short time. I use WP Fastest cache and purging cache or deactivating all plugins has not resolved the issue.

    Since no solution has been offered by the plugin support via email, I decided to post here and see if others are facing this problem and/or have found a solution. Per other thread in the support forum, it appears I’m not the only one having issues with inaccrate share counts.

    Not able to reproduce this scenario at my test environment. Looking for the possible reasons. Will get back to you.

    As there is a limit to the number of times Facebook graph API can be called within a specific time limit, you can try increasing the share count cache refresh time in the “Miscellaneous” section at plugin options page to keep these graph API requests less frequent.

    Actually I just checked the API call count usage rate and it’s 0% for the past 7 days. So that can’t be it. Looks like there is no API requests (see screenshot below):

    I am using sassy social share.
    I am also facing same issue.
    I enabled to show total share count on posts.

    When any post is opened. In the beginning total share count shows 0. After 5 or 8 seconds it shows correct counts.

    If again post is opened same happens.

    Sometimes when post is opened. Share count fluctuate 0 to total share counts again and again.

    Only due to this reason i have do disable this feature of share count.
    Very much disappointed with this issue.

    @roxchou Are you facing the same issue after updating the plugin to version 3.2.24?
    @mangesh3381 What share count cache refresh time you have saved in the “Miscellaneous” section at plugin options page? You would like to set it to 10 minutes at least.

    Great. Good to know.

    My post had 110 shares and all of a sudden the shares decreased to 93 shares, the shares increased again to 105 but now they are 95. this is happening to all of my posts and I am not happy with it. Every plugin and the theme I am using is updated I don’t know what is the problem

    @zayac You would like to make sure you are using latest version of the plugin and saved the Facebook App ID and Secret in the “Miscellaneous” section at plugin options page in admin. If you still face the issue, drop an email at support[at]heateor[dot]com
