Inaccurate GeoLocation by town and nation

    I noticed recently that the Town and Nation information in the live traffic log has become more inaccurate. This is not desirable because webmasters rely upon this information to file criminal complaints for hacking and we need to know the correct jurisdiction to which to file a complaint.

    Hi @fraughtithrouble, thanks for getting in touch.

    Assuming the IP detection part of Wordfence is configured to correctly your detect visitor’s IPs, it’s important to note that IP location detection will still never be 100% accurate in all cases as IP addresses are constantly changing.

    We update the geoIP database as often as we can, although in many cases where we’ve looked into IP location for customers they’ve either been updated after the initial Live Traffic hit or still reflect the same result as Wordfence in external tools because they’re using similar data to obtain them.
