In search of a plugin to manage a “database”

I’m building a wordpress site for the music composition area at the university I attend. I’m trying to build a database of sorts that could list all of the music that has been written by current students that could be sorted and searched by performers who might be interested in playing some of it. Unfortunately, the words “database” and “library” have too much technical baggage for a regular search to work. Does anyone know of a plugin that I could use for this? Any direction you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
