    Hello!

I am using WordPress 1.5.1.1 and have two problems – now the second one:

When I am in the “admin mode” I have often (not every time, but nearly daily) some delays in loading pages. It occurs if I
    – write a new post
    – edit links/categories/posts
    – browse through the posts

As an example I refer to the process a writing a post:
I enter the admin mode and begin to write. When I want to publish or to save the post then the browser begins to work: he loads and loads and loads… and no end even after one minute or so. But when I am loading the blog directly I can see that the posting has been done and published (or the link has been added and so on).
I’ve even tested it for myself, how long it takes to publish a post:
I wrote a post, saved it (the loading begins…) and one second later I opened in an extra window the blog itself – and the posting was there.

I think this shouldn’t be correct – but what could I do?

    Bye, Jens

  • Look at Options > Writing.
If there are any services listed at the bottom, remove them and try what you do again. That may speed things up.
    Also try UNchecking the
Attempt to notify any Weblogs linked to from the article (slows down posting.)

Okay… I have unchecked at first the attempt to notify any weblogs and then I have removed the ping-URLs.

But it is not going faster and I don’t think that these options are the reasons because the admin tool gets slowly and loads and loads (and loads… up to infinity) when I am setting things, which haven’t something to do with pinging other blogs (e.g. changing links or loading/saving a draft). *1

What me surprises is the fact, that even if the browser (Firefox 1.04) tries to load the page, the content has been generated or the options have been changed. I tried some minutes ago to write a draft for a new post and wanted to save it. The page began to load and so on. So I pressed stop and clicked on “Save” another time – loading, loading, loading… Then I tried it again with a stop and a click on “Save” again – and immediately I stopped it. When I then looked at the “Write”-Window I saw three drafts – so it seems to be that the work which should be done after pressing the button is being done but the browser doesn’t really know. ??

*1 = I am happy that these options are not responsible for the slow-down because I wouldn’t like it, if my blog won’t ping.

Same problem, it doesn’t always happen but when it does it’s more of a nuisance than anything else.

I tried the options suggested above but they didn’t work for me, either, although it does happen more often to posts with links in them, so I’ve always thought it was a pinging issue.

I haven’t had a chance to upgrade to the newest WP, though. Maybe it’ll be fixed in the upgrade.

As I have understood the newest WP release it’s “only” a security update because in the standard theme is an error. This shouldn’t have something to do with the admin mode and the delays.

i am having similar problems… my problem got worse after adding a huge ping list to the list under Options > Writing.

it would be nice if the pinging can be done in the background and not as part of the wp posting process. (if in fact that is the case)

And now it’s gone so far, I cannot login. ??

In Opera I have the user data stored (by cookies?) and so I can enter the admin mode without problem. But when I need to use another browser (I’ll explain why in another posting) I can load the login page in Firefox – but after I entered my correct user name and the correct password the page began to load, and to load and to load… and it even loads now (some minutes later!).

The same problem with MS IE.

    What could be the reason?

It seems to be, that it is a special problem of my PC and all browsers (excluding Opera) here, because at other PCs (or at this one with Opera) I can login.

I have found a solution for the problem, that I couldn’t login at some computers:

Normally I entered the login page via
    https://servername/wp-admin/
    which directed to
    https://servername/wp-login.php?redirect_to=%2Fwp-admin%2F

    I changed it to

    https://servername/wp-login.php

and when I used this URL I could login. ??
