Improving Error Messages

I’m not seeing it in any documentation but is there a way to improve the error message on individual fields as far as text size/colour?

The website template that’s being used currently has the downside of errors on individual fields blending in with the rest of the page and not standing out very well and I’d rather see about changing it on the plugin side before looking at a heavier change to the overall website.
