• I would add the following information to the “Add from Server” description page, as I think others may find it useful too:

    1. If you FTP images into the WordPress Upload directory, “Add from Server” will not import and duplicate the original images, but register them with your Media Library. WordPress will still generate images at different sizes, depending on the Media settings in WordPress Settings>Media page. If you don’t want WordPress to generate these extra images, set their size to 0.

    2. “Add from Server” will retain your directory structure (folders). Although the Media Library does not have the facility to “change” directories, you can use its Search Media Items box to show images in a specific directory by entering the folder name. For example, you have images in uploads/myfiles/folder1, just enter “folder1” to see the media in only that folder.

    If you need to find duplicate images, use the “Media Deduper” plugin.

    If you need to prevent people from accessing all the new media attachment page, use the “Attachment Pages Redirect” plugin.
