Improve Related Event feature

Hi,

I’m reaching out to know if you’re planning to improve the “related events” feature on Event Calendar.

As of today, this feature basically only relies on categories and tags to suggest related events, which is very basic to say the least. There are free WP Plugin out there like “Yet Another Related Posts Plugin” that are based on a customizable algorithm to suggest related posts based on more than simple categories and tags.

For instance, I could imagine that in addition to categories and tags, related events could be based on geography (ex: other events in Colorado / other events within 80 miles from this one / other events organized by same organizer or venue) and time (events happening also on April 20th 2019) since this data is already available in each event. Categories and tags are optional to input in each event, and can be skipped when creating such event, while location and time are compulsory data that cannot be skipped. Therefore, they make for perfect references when looking for similar events.

I think this is the kind of feature that could make the people’s life easier. I’m not event suggesting here to use AI to “read” each event and connect them to one another based on keywords. I’m just suggesting to use simple data that is easily identifiable.

I truly think Event Calendar could benefit from such a feature, and I look forward to such a feature in the future ?? I’m more than happy to help you brainstorm on other data sources that could be used to create such groups.
