    Hi there!

    I was looking for a replacement for a Recent Post widget that is no longer maintained and found this one. Most impressed! It looks good with my theme and I will happily try it out for a while. There are two changes I would like to see.

    1) I would like to use my “hand crafted excerpt” instead of pulling the first 30-odd words from the text.

    2) I’d like to stop the text wrapping around the thumbnail – just have it show under the thumbnail. It does what I want most of the time probably because my featured images are the shape they are, but one or two short words (I, In) are turning up as orphans to the right of the featured image which I think is ugly.

    OK, I solved item 2) above by changing the widget padding left and right.

    But now I notice the plugin is not necessarily pulling the featured image. I think it ought always to pull the featured image and only look for another picture if no featured image is available.

    Thank you so much for your feedback and kind words.

    Regarding featured image: If there are no featured image it adds first image of the post as featured image. If no image in post is found then a default placeholder image is shown. I see there was some conflict with featured image if its replaced and multiple images added and featured image added again.

    I have updated the plugin, please update to latest version (1.3) and let me know regarding the featured image issue.

    Regarding the “hand crafted excerpt” I will check about it.

    Released version 1.4 which will allow to use “hand crafted excerpt”. If no “hand crafted excerpt” then will display the first 30 words from the post.

    Also added ability to disable the excerpts if needed.

    Please update the plugin and check.

    Hi rajros!

    Many thanks for your quick response.

    I tested the featured image by swapping one out and replacing another. Both worked without problems.

    The excerpts are just what I was hoping for.

    I’ve given the plugin a 5 star review.

    Will experiment a bit more later.
