    Hello all!

Since a few days, it has been impossible to pay with Bancontact on the website. It states the error “Invalid URL”.

I’ve contacted Stripe but apparently the error doesn’t come from their end.

All plugins are up to date but no changes were made before this stops working so I don’t know what’s causing this.

What can I do to resolve this?

Thank you for your help! ??

  • Hi @ladynemery

    Thanks for reaching out!

Since a few days, it has been impossible to pay with Bancontact on the website. It states the error “Invalid URL”.

I understand that you’re unable to pay using Bancontact as one of the payment gateways on your site since it produces the error message: Invalid URL

Can you please check if there are any patterns or similarities about this issue? Like, same products, same product type, same category, same shipping address, etc?

Furthermore, I’d like to understand your site properly. Please share with us the necessary information below for us to investigate the issue further:

    • Screenshot of the error message that you see on your end after using Bancontact

If you don’t already have a screenshot service installed, you can try https://snipboard.io. You can share the direct link to the image as a response to this topic.

    • System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support.
    • Fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.

Once we have more information, we’ll be able to assist you further.

    Hi!

Actually there’s only 2 products on the website and it’s happening with both. I didn’t see any pattern as no costumers were able to make the payment.

    @ladynemery Hi there Laetitia ??

Thank you for reaching back, with further details on this.

Actually there’s only 2 products on the website and it’s happening with both. I didn’t see any pattern as no costumers were able to make the payment.

I tried reproducing this, with a test installation of mine, without encountering any errors. The latest versions of WordPress, WooCommerce, and WooCommerce Stripe Payment Gateway are installed (as with yours), along with having the updated checkout experience unchecked.

It sounds like a plugin/theme conflict on your end. Could you kindly go ahead with performing a full test for conflicts and see if the issue persists, or otherwise?

I hope that helps! Let us know how it goes.

    Hi!

I’ve tried to do as you said, deactivate every plugin but it still didn’t work.

So I tried to re-upload a backup from before the bug which resolved the issue for 3 days … Now we’re back at it again and still no solution :/

Really don’t know what to do…

    Hi @ladynemery

I understand that the issue still persists even after deactivating all plugins on your site.

Let’s try once again to replicate the issue on your end. Can you please try to switch to the default Storefront theme and only WooCommerce and Stripe plugins are enabled, create a test order using Stripe Test Mode and see if this works?

If so, then this kind of problem is usually caused by your theme or a third-party plugin present on your site. We can run a conflict test to verify this. I’d recommend cloning your site to a staging environment and performing the tests described on this guide without modifying your live site or impacting customers. Many hosts provide staging facilities, so it’s worth checking in with them. It’s also possible to do it using the free WP Staging plugin.

If this was caused by a third-party plugin present on your site, it would be best to reach out to the developers for further assistance here.

If this did not resolve the issue, please provide the fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.

Or, if you’d like someone else to do this work for you, our trusted partner, Codeable, has an offering where they will run this test for $150 USD. If there is time left, they will also fix the problems they found.

Let us know how it goes!

    Hi,?
I’ve found that the plugin that’s conflicting is Elementor Pro.

    I was waiting for an answer from Elementor support team, Here is their?response;

I understand you have issues with the WooCommerce Stripe Gateway, and as much as I’d love to help, we have no control over how third-party plugin behaves when used with Elementor. Third-party plugins/themes-related issues are out of our?support scope, and we cannot guarantee their full compatibility with us also, we are not aware of their codes.

In this case, we suggest you report this issue to the plugin authors again and see if they can provide a fix on their end. If they need help from us, they can open an issue on our?Github account, and our developers will be happy to assist.

How can I go further with this?

    Thank you

    Hi there @ladynemery ??

That’s great to hear! Thanks for letting us know the culprit was found.

How can I go further with this?

As a payment gateway (like Stripe) is essential for an ecommerce website to function, contrary to a website builder, that’d depend on how invested the site is with Elementor.

Consider testing with enabling Bancontact after installing and activating WooPayments, as a next step. If the issue is resolved, smooth sailing.

Otherwise, definitely open an issue on Elementor’s?Github account, and alert them, as their product would not be functioning with two payment gateways by then.

I trust that points you in the right direction, but if you have more questions, let us know.

    We’re happy to help.
