• Versions: WP 5.6
    Power Builder: 1.3.0

    Hi,

Everything was working fine until the latest update to WP 5.6

This morning as we went to modify our homepage, when clicking on “edit page”, no contents were accessible anymore – all we see is the permalink and all the revisions that were made since the page was built. (see attachment 1).

As we previously had problems of plugin conflict with YOAST, it was already deactivated at this stage. Still it is impossible to access contents and edit any page.

We then disabled all the plugins and went through them one by one. The plugin that creates the conflict is Power Builder

Once it is deactivated we are presented with codes. We are unfortunately not computer nor codes savvy to deal with these codes without the visual help that Power Builder offered.

Any help would be more than appreciated.

Plus, when Power Builder is deactivated the public homepage of our site displays the codes and the writing without the usual end-result display (see attachment 2)

So we need to have Power Builder enabled at all time.

I can see there is an option to downgrade WP but as we are not computer literate we are afraid to lose everything by clicking on that option.

    Any insights welcome too.

That makes us freak out: Does it mean that going forward WP cannot guarantee Power Builder users to simply function? And Template-Monster sites using Power Builder will simply become obsolete anymore because incompatible?

Thanks in advance, we are lost.

NB: We also inquired directly on GitHub @ github

    Hi @sterndata @baden32 and @vickygr89,

@Mitzel left a solution here that I applied and it works:

“Enable jQuery Migrate Helper: I had to change the jQuery-Version in settings to “Legacy 1.12.4-wp” to access the media library again.”

And yes, indeed it enables us to access the content again!!!

Now what I don’t know is if we need to keep switching from the Default for WordPress JQuery Version to the Legacy 1.12.4-wp or if we can stay on the Legacy 1.12.4-wp without risks for the site as I now have the following message:

“This page generated the following warnings:

https:// XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX . com/wp-content/plugins/cherry-search/cherry-framework/modules/cherry-js-core/assets/js/min/cherry-js-core.min.js: ‘ready’ event is deprecated
Please make sure you are using the latest version of all of your plugins, and your theme. If that is the case, then you may want to ask the developers of the code mentioned in your warnings to update it.”

I don’t understand what “deprecated means”. Would anyone know if the site is somehow endangered when switched to Legacy? Do I need to switch back and forth or can I leave it on Legacy from now on? Thanks in advance for your insight.

When it comes to asking for an update it doesn’t seem possible as the template-Monster team informed me today after new inquiries that:

“The power builder is not developing anymore, we can provide you only with a fix connected with the latest WordPress engine version 5.6.x .
Unfortunately there is no updated template version available at the moment.
Alternatively we can integrate an Elementor editor as alternative solution for $79 (note the pages and posts created with power builder should be recreated with elementor from scratch)”

But thank you to @Mitzel you found the magic remedy to our problems!!!

For me nothing helped but downgrading to Version WP 5.5., which solved the issue – well for now. We are planning to rebuild the site and change the theme now (and not using Template Monster again).

Please let me know if downgrading is also helping you and how you plan to deal with the problem.

    thanks @momentumactingstudio
    it worked for me!!
    thanks

    Hi @lotusbirds

Sorry to hear that it didn’t work for you outside of downgrading. As I don’t really know what I’m doing, I won’t attempt to downgrade. For the moment, I keep changing the jQuery-Version in settings to “Legacy 1.12.4-wp” but will slowly but surely change the theme and say goodbye to Template-Monster.

    Best,

    Update

I got following feedback from the support:

“Unfortunately, the Power builder and Cherry plugins are not under development anymore, and we can not guarantee that they work well with the updated versions of WordPress and PHP.
After update to 5.6, you may face some issues with them.

In order to fix that, just install the Enable jQuery Migrate Helper plugin, and choose the following option under Tools: https://prnt.sc/w3ahcx

The template was updated and is built just on Elementor and Jet plugins, which are considered the best solution for WordPress nowadays.
You can download it from your account and use it absolutely for free. It is fully compatible with the latest WordPress and PHP.

Let us know if you still have any difficulties.”

    Hi @momentumactingstudio!

Thank you for your reply! I used a plugin called “WP Downgrade”.
It is recommended to make a backup before.

I worked fine at least without seeing any trouble so far for now. But it is not a sustainable solution for the website. It was just to fix the issue for now, so we can still edit the content at the moment.

I had the jQuery Migrate Helper installed before and it did not work for me. The issue remained, so I tried downgrading.

    Hi world,
Do you know if the author of Power Builder Will provide an update of the core ?
