• Hey there,

I’ve made a big mistake when using Blogger back then: I added Disqus, a comment tool, to my blog and the comments were stored there and not on blogspot. Now I have moved to WordPress (https://sparkandbark.com/) and I wanted to get rid of Disqus. They didn’t manage to show my comments under the posts with a different permalink structure anyway. So there is a way to export all your comments from your Disqus account in a XML format. And that format apparently can’t be imported to WordPress. I always get a message saying:

“Sorry, there has been an error.
This does not appear to be a WXR file, missing/invalid WXR version number”

Is there any way to upload my XML file with the comments OR convert it to WXR somehow? I googled and googled and didn’t find one tutorial that worked for me..

I would be so so grateful if anyone out there could help me, I’m afraid of losing my comments ??

    Thanks in advance,
    Malin

  • Hi Malin,

Have you found a solution to import comments yet? You may try a free plugin called WP All Import and see whether the XML file from Disqus can be properly parsed. If it can, a small add-on plugin I have written for WP All Import may be able to help you. The premium version of my plugin can import comments, users, in addition to pages and posts.

I have recently imported about 300,000 comments without any issue using these three plugins.

Please let me know if you need further help.

    best regards.

    Oliver
