    Hi,
    I’ve got a slightly irritating problem with the import text feature for some time now but so far I could solve it fairly easily until the latest version.

    I import the recipe text into wp-recipe-maker from yet unpublished wordpress post. When I copy all the text from the visual editor and paste it into wp-recipe-maker I get a big block of text without any formatting. There are no paragraphs, list, new lines or anything just a big block of text.
    I came around this problem by copying the text from the text editor and that worked fine. I had the proper line brakes, lists, paragraphs and I could easily select the text I needed for the ingredients or instructions. Upon saving wp-recipe-maker removed the html formatting and a perfect recipe was ready.

    With the new interface none of those works. I have to first copy my block of text from wordpress editor to MS Word then copy back the word formatted text into recipe maker.

    Is this happening on purpose, am I doing something wrong? Is it possible to make wp-recipe-maker remove the html code again?

    Hi there,

    From what I’ve been able to find it’s actually something that changed in the Visual Editor where it copies things differently. Not sure if there’s something we can do about that on the pasting end.

    What others have found that worked is copying from the frontend instead of the backend editor instead. Would that work for you?

    Yeah, I thought it was something to do with the editor as if I paste the text into Notepad++ I still get the same bulk of text unfortunately.

    I was hoping you could do something about pasting the html and wp-recipe-maker removing the html formatting as it did before version 5.

    It doesn’t really matter if I copy from the frontend or word as it’s still an extra step and at least 7 more seconds… ??

    What HTML is it pasting in exactly? Could you give an example of something you’d be copying from the text editor?

    WordPress old editor has a tab that says Visual and Text. If you click on the text you can get the html code of the post like this:

    Although, this recipe sounds like not a cake to trifle with, it is a splendid dessert with little more than basic ingredients providing a truly exclusive look and variety of decadent flavors all over the plate.<img src="https://www.suncakemom.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/05/Trifle-recipe-1-SunCakeMom-1024x683.jpg" alt="Trifle-recipe-1-SunCakeMom" width="1024" height="683" />
    <h3>Ingredients:</h3>
    <h4>Pastry</h4>
    <h4>Plain sponge cake</h4>
    <ul>
     	<li>4 Eggs (separated)</li>
     	<li>3 tablespoon Agave syrup or sweetener of choice</li>
     	<li>1 cup / 120g Plain flour</li>
     	<li>1 tablespoon Baking powder (follow instructions on packaging)</li>
    </ul>
    &nbsp;
    <h4>Chocolate sponge cake</h4>
    <ul>
     	<li>4 Eggs (separated)</li>
     	<li>3 tablespoon Agave syrup or sweetener of choice</li>
     	<li>? cup / 100g Plain flour</li>
     	<li>2 tablespoon Cocoa powder (unsweetened)</li>
     	<li>1 tablespoon Baking powder (follow instructions on packaging)</li>
    </ul>
    &nbsp;
    <h4>Nut sponge cake</h4>
    <ul>
     	<li>4 eggs separated</li>
     	<li>3 tablespoon Agave syrup or sweetener of choice</li>
     	<li>? cup / 100g Plain flour</li>
     	<li>4 tablespoon Ground nuts of choice</li>
     	<li>1 tablespoon Baking powder (follow instructions on packaging)</li>

    v4 recipe maker stripped all the img, ul, li, h, tags and left only the plain text in the ingredients and instructions field. v5 adds everything there.

    Thanks for the example. I’ll do some testing and get back to you.

    Same problem with me. The text is not formatted

    @indranisen2003 Are you referring to the recipe not having a layout? Because that doesn’t have anything to do with the problem in this topic.

    It just looks like you have to pick a different template on the WP Recipe Maker > Settings > Recipe Template page.

    I wanted to let you know that we just released WP Recipe Maker 5.2.0 which should automatically strip the HTML when using the Import from Text feature.
