Importing photos posted with reviews

    Hi, first-time user of your plugin (and any other similar plugin), and it’s absolutely great so far!

    It seems like the feature in the advanced tab can import additional reviews based on the HTML. Would it be possible to import the photos that reviewers post as well?

    @leaferdesign Hi Craig,

    The HTML Import will use almost the same data as provided by the Place API including all the URLs to the author profile photos and leaving out anything additional that’s outside of the basics.

    If you mean the photos after the review content – these are currently not included because the Places API doesn’t send these. I may extend this functionality in the future if there’s a demand, but so far no one has mentioned this.

    Yeah, I figured it wasn’t a part of the Places API because none of the other solutions I tried displayed photos either (e.g., elfsight, tagembed).

    I think your plugin would be the only one if you added that feature!

    @leaferdesign I will consider this new functionality for a future version of the plugin – the ability to support:

    • Photos within reviews
    • The descriptive word tags

    This would work with the HTML Import and build upon the review text while supporting the on-going updates through the Places API (and, later, the Google My Business API).

    Craig, thanks a lot for giving Elfsight Google Reviews widget a try!
    It’s true that at the moment we don’t support photos, however, we’ll be happy to try to find a way to make it possible.
