Maybe I’m doing it wrong, but …
For many years we used Gallery2 for members to upload photos, and then when we started the wordpress-based web site used plugin wpg2 to access it. Wpg2 hasn’t been updated for several years, and our server provider no longer allows some of the features it uses, so we chose wppa+ as a substitute.
In order to be able to access images already in Gallery2, I have taken a copy of its image directory and put it in wp-content/wppa-depot/albums copy/. One of the sub-directories there is Visual, with several hundred images (all jpg) in multiple sub-directories. To receive these files and folders I used Album Admin to create a new album, Other Photos, at the top level (ie parallel to Members) (which incidentally I think will be a solution to my previous question on privacy) and a new album Visual as a child of Other Photos (we’re getting to the question!).
In Import Photos I navigated “Import Photos from” to wp-content/wppa-depot/albums copy/Visual and “Default album for import” to Other Photos > Visual. Clicking the Import button then imported the single image from directory Visual to Other Photos > Visual, but none of the sub-directories nor their contents.

Am I correct in thinking that clicking Import should bring in sub-directories?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

You can select a folder in your depot directory to import. Do not select photos in it.
The import process will create (sub)albums identical to the folder structure.

Make sure you have no single files in your depot, because of the peridical reload of the page.

See this ducumentation page for more info.

After it is fully done, you can change the parent of the created top-level albums to get the entire album tree where you want to get it.

To be more specific: Move the (toplevel) ‘foreign’ folders to your depot folder. This is the only way to import complete folder structures.

Ahhh. I hadn’t grasped that, for import of directories with sub-directories, the source files had to be in MY wppa-depot, rather than just wppa-depot. That is working, thank you.
