Importing permalinks

  • I am moving 3 sites from wp.com to wp.org

    I have moved the first and least important one as practice. In doing so I have discovered that all the original links to my various posts and pages are no longer.

    Is there a way to import all these original links to my new site location?

    OR

    Is there something I can do before porting the site to make sure all the links remain the same?

    The problem I face now is that all links sent out via social media up until the move will not work…… Thank you in advance….

    Wow! Just seconds after posting i found the answer…… For anyone else with the same issue – there is a “change permalink” option next to the link in each post – changing this effects all posts.

    HOWEVER – It seems to have changed something with the previous links as some of them now link back to my original WP.com site and not the new one? It appears that those posts shared via automation link back to old site, but those shared via a link copy point to the new site.

    Any further advice to avoid this mess?
