Importing old Blogger posts – will there be duplicates?
-
I moved from Blogger to Movable Type, but when I went through the process of exporting my posts from Blogger, it cut off about 5 months worth of posts. When I was on MT and had oodles of free time in college, I copied and pasted several of the old posts that weren’t imported over into it. This got old really quickly and I moved to the real world with a real job.
I imported the nearly 5,000 posts from MT over when I moved to WordPress last week. I know that import page said not to worry about duplicates. However, I’d really like to go rescue the early archives of the blog on Blogger – probably about another 400-700 posts.
If I tried to import those remainig posts, would it duplicate the 1,000 or so that I did successfully move to MT that were then successfully moved to WordPress? That’s a mess I wouldn’t want to clean up. Or would it throw out the dupes and only import those last few hundred posts?
I’m running version 2.0.3, so I’m also open to a fix where I could maybe import them like I did the MT files so I could use a text editor to delete everything except what I want. Not that it should make much of a difference, but there are no comments to import, just the posts.
