Importing items with special characters in the title

    Thanks for this awesome plugin. I continue to get more and more use out of it.

    One issue I’m having is with importing items with a registered trademark ? or trademark ? symbol in the title. How can I get it to keep them? It’s removing them from the title and also cutting out everything that comes after them in the title. Ideally, it should escape or convert to entities all characters that may be in a typical title, like ?, ?, ”, “”, -, etc. Thanks.

    I’ve tested with special characters, but there is no problem. I can import them. Here is my example csv file:

    Probably your spreadsheet software escapes special characters when exporting csv file.

    I’m not sure what the deal is, but we just switched to using ® and ™ and they import fine. Using the actual characters produces the diamond with question mark and cuts off the rest of the title that follows it. I tried saving the CSV both with Excel as “Windows Comma Separated Values”, and exporting as CSV from Apple Numbers using UTF-8. It may be something in one of the filters.

    FYI I had luck opening the badly encoded CSV file in TextEdit (on a Mac) and copying the contents into a new file. The new file imported just fine.
