I updated to version 4.14 yesterday and my security plugin is notifying me of all sorts of images being added to the upload directory. During the addition/upload multiple sizes of the images are being created because of the theme setting. this already added 1.8GB of storage on my hosting account.

There are also files that are filled with code that at the top state
CREATOR: gd-jpeg v1.0 (using IJG JPEG v62). Based on what I found in Google this looks like a php generated file for the images that are being generated in the upload directory. There on of these files for each image that it tries to generate.

We don’t display any images from the feeds only links. How do I turn this functionality off?

@rjdougan Thanks for reporting this. Looks like a bug in the plugin that causes it to ignore certain checks and safeguards. We’ll release a patch soon.

Same issue here. Taking up much of my storage space now. Overall a great plugin and thank you for looking into the issue.

    Same here

Same goes here. It took a while for me to know why a lot of images got uploaded to my DB. After installing a plugin that shows where the image is coming from I realized that it is from RSSAgg.

My initial thought was that my site was hacked and that someone added content in already created articles for free SEO. This was not the case who.

Would be really glad if someone could look into this.

We will be releasing an update of the plugin early this week that should resolve this issue. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
