I love Nextgen Gallery, but I’m stumped as to how to re-use images I’ve already uploaded, added name, description and tags to in other galleries.

I’ve looked for all the above mentioned options. But I don’t see how to import from one gallery to another, how to duplicate a gallery (where I could leave some images and delete others and later add more images if needed) or how to merge galleries to accomplish the same thing.

The reason for this is,that my home page has a gallery on it (kind of a sample gallery), and now I will be making separate more specific galleries that will include also images that are already in the sample gallery. But I don’t want to do the work again of adding all the info to each image. And most importantly, I don’t want to have unnecessary duplicate image files on my website. Specially because they’re BIG images.

Is there a work around? A pluging? Or am I not seeing something obvious here?

  • Maybe create the main gallery you wish to display, and then add tags to the subset of sample images and use those to display just the samples?

Thing is, I’m running the Justified Image Grid plugin to display the images, not direct links.

I want to make specific category pages, and as you can see this initial gallery has a mix of different families and species. And the Justified Image Grid brings the gallery display to a new level ??
But I want to re-use those images in the specific category galleries (flies, beetles, dragonflies, etc).

If the re-use can be accomplished it would also work the other way around. Meaning that new images that I add to the category pages, I can also include in the sample gallery in the home page.
