Importing from WordPress.com

    Hello there,

    I am trying to import my mom’s (free version) WordPress.com blog to a Local Flywheel site before moving it to another host service. I have installed the all-in-one WP Migration plugin at the local site. When trying to import the blog, I get an error notification:

    The file type that you have tried to upload is not compatible with this plugin. Please ensure that your file is a .wpress file that was created with the All-in-One WP migration plugin.

    Is it possible to import from a free WP.com site, where I cannot install the plugin? If it is, how do I do that?

    You will need to install the plugin first and then export the site.
    It is possible on WP.com but the ability to install plugins is a feature included with the Business or eCommerce plan.
