importing from mt

    hi everyone,
    i did an import from mt from a test weblog… i noted that it set all comments to closed – is there any way to avoid this? I’d like them to stay open.
    It also appears that the import doesn’t give it a status.. after I imported I had to go and find posts *via comments* and set them to publish… I lost several posts that had no comments and can’t see to find them as the radio button didn’t get set.
    looking for any advice on these issues, thank you

    You may want to try the latest import-mt.php from the CVS, I believe it addresses these issues.

    It sure does fix them. The only thing I noted is that pings have neither open nor closed ticked – and so it seems to be defaulting to closed =/
    I have one other question… my MT site utilizes 7 weblogs, I intend to simplify that if I move to WP … is there any way to import a specific weblogs posts (uncategorized) into a specific category other than general?

    When you tested your MT to WP did you use subcategories in MT? I’ve been wondering if WP will import the MT entires category and subcategory.

    MT has no subcategories. The specific weblog I imported (I’ve been doing one at a time for test cases) only has single categories.
    There is a subcat plugin, I doubt the importer handles it- I don’t use it to test.
    However my next one I’m testing with, once I sort everything out, is my main one – some of those posts have up to 4 categories assigned and it has multiple authors. It has 600+ entries and 500+ comments so that will be the real test for me.
    I noted WP doesn’t have a category hierarchy, either, or so it seems. I’m right now having trouble coming to terms with how I’ll organize everything if I move (I’m waiting til mt 3.0 to decide), which is why I’ve been asking so many category questions. =)

    The upcoming version of WP and the current nightlies support sub-categories.

    I should have been a little more clear. In my hast, I meant multiple categories.
