• While on a broadband connection, I get the following message when trying to Manage – Import – From Blogger:

    Could not connect to https://www.google.com

There was a problem opening a secure connection to Google. This is what went wrong:

    Connection timed out (110)

Thank you for creating with WordPress | Documentation | Feedback | Version 2.6

Before I can import, it is making me Grant Access from a Google Accounts page because of this message:

This website has not registered with Google to establish a secure connection for authorization requests. We recommend that you continue the process only if you trust the following destination:

Weird! Any help would be much appreciated – since I really don’t want to move these 2000 posts manually!!

  • sounds like the blogger file will be huge and Google drops it, can you download locally then upload to WP?

Not all hosting servcies work with the direct import approach. No way to fix it, usually.

    Workaround:
Make a free WordPress.com blog, and import your posts from Blogger to there. Then, use the WordPress.com export feature, and the WordPress Import feature on your own blog to transfer them from one to the other. Delete the free WordPress.com blog afterwards.

I tried that and I get the following when I try to connect to import. It takes me back to the Dashboard with the following:

    Trouble signing in

We were not able to gain access to your account. Try starting over.

Of course I start over and receive the same issue.

Ah it is working now after several retemps. I will update this when needed.

Wait, it automatically assumes my blogger address is the same as my username for WP – how can I change this to point to the client’s blogger addy?

I was able to login, but before that I was getting the following:

    Trouble signing in

We were not able to gain access to your account. Try starting over.

I have removed the blog my WP thought I wanted to be imported. I need to know how to point it to the correct client Blogger account.
