Importing Events and Players Separately

    I’ve started experimenting with SportsPress as a method for managing the statistics that come out of my gridiron league.

    I’ve run into problems with trying to import events that have players included in them. It returns with a 503 error and nothing more detailed (on that, is there a log of imports so that I can see where it errored out?).

    Since only the last 2 years of stats have players included and I’ve got 13 years of stats to import, I thought I’d import all the games first from all the seasons and then import the players that are listed as playing those games. However, when I try to import the players that are a part of those events, the system just adds a new event with those players instead of looking for an event with those details already in the system (i.e. a date, season, home and away team, etc) and matching the players with them.

    Am I going about this wrong? Is this a known bug in the importation process? Is there a solution on the way?

    TL;DR –
    Want to import events and players separately as importing them together either says it worked and hasn’t imported anywhere near the number that’s in the CSV or returns a 503 error.

    Hi!

    Thanks for reaching out and I’m sorry for the trouble.

    If you get a 503 that means that there is an error in your server. I’d look for PHP / Server error logs.

    It’s very likely that there is some limitation in your server blocking these imports from running.

    @rochesterj, that’s part of my post, definitely not the main question I’m asking. I appreciate the answer, which you’re correct on as I think I’ve rectified it but please address the question regarding the importation of player statistics and events separately without a new event being created.
