    Hi,

I am using The Events Calendar (not The Events Calendar PRO). I have successfully imported a venue and an organiser but the event is giving me the error
The following fields are required for a successful import
    Event Start Date

I have used the layout that I downloaded from the page:
    https://support.theeventscalendar.com/969953-CSV-file-examples-for-importing

The Field Names in the text do not match the field names in the downloaded example CSV file. I have tried a field name of Start Date and Event Start Date – what does it want?

I have tried the START DATE in various formats and have been using 3rd March to limit confusion. I have tried 03/03/2019, 3-3-2019, 3/3/2019 and others. I tried multiple entries with different formats but the first one failed and the others were ignored.

My Events General-> Settings show Use site-wide time zone everywhere.

The preview is showing the data as I would expect it

    The file contains
    EVENT NAME,VENUE NAME,ORGANIZER NAME,EVENT START DATE,START TIME,END DATE etc….
    Film Night,Regal Cinema,Mel Williams,2019-03-03,19:00:00,2019-03-03 etc…

    What am I doing wrong?

    Please help

  • Hey there,

    Thanks for reaching out ??

What version of The Events Calendar are you using?

Can you send me a link to the CSV file you are importing?

    Have you Tested for Conflicts?

    Take care,
    Ed ??

    Hi Ed,

Thanks for your reply. Sorry for the delay, I have been off line for a couple of days.

I installed The Events Calendar plug in last week so it is the most recent version.

I am new to this online forum stuff – where do I upload the csv file to so that I can send you a link?

Thanks for the Tested for Conflicts link, very interesting and useful. Do you use The Events calendar a lot? I had done a few searches and nothing had come up relating to dates. I am using the theme Divi and had no other plug-ins active. The fact that the venue and organiser files were uploading suggests that the theme is allowing imports – I am aware that dates are notoriously troublesome as software can be temperamental on formats.

I’ll send a link if you could let me know what I need to do!!

    Cheers,

    Mel

    Cool!

Yeah, I use all of our plugins in an array of capacities.

You can upload the file to any file sharing site like dropbox or Google Drive. Just make sure that the file is set to public so I can download it.

When you are getting ready to import, there is a preview that appears… Is the Event Start Date shown in the previewer? Sometimes it misreads the field and you have to set that dropdown box to the correct field.

    Take care,
    Ed ??
