I have a WordPress blog (https://smallbones.ca/blog/), but would like to have my website on wp, too. How do I do that? https://www.smallbones.ca

A search of the forum did bring up a couple of similar questions, but they seem to pertain to older versions of wp. It seems very complicated. I don’t want to use Dreamweaver at all any more (can’t afford the updates). I’m no expert & found Dreamweaver easy; hoping that I’ll find the same on wp once I get the site up & running.

    Advice please?

This lists direct options available for moving to WordPress.

You can also do it all manually, pull the appropriate html from each page and create a page with same title in wordpress (carefully replacing URL’s [which is actually easy using notepad’s replace text function) so all the links are proper (that is if you are changing URL’s.

Install WordPress in another folder in your web hosting area, use that to get site running and how you want it, and when the site is done, have DNS point to the folder as your main domain name (discuss with your web host).

WordPress can and is used to run a site of just pages (no posts).

There are many tips and tricks in this forum and in the Codex – use Google to search for the latest information on both as Google indexes both quite often.

Thank-you very much, SwansonPhotos! I’ve also had a phone call from Chris. I’m very impressed by the quick help from you both!

This looks like I should be able to do it. I just need to get it set up correctly, and then play around (I learn best that way)!

I’ll try to remember to let you know when it’s up & running…

    Jane

    You are quite welcome!
