• Hi,

I am considering using your plugin for our local cable access station’s weekly TV broadcast schedule.

Here’s what I’m trying to accomplish:

    1. Export the weekly schedule from a hardware system we have in our broadcast booth that manages the shows. I would try to export it as a CSV File.
    2. Import the CSV File, which really on has the show day and times and the name of the shows, into your plugin, publish it weekly and be done.

    Is that possible?

    Thanks,
    Nick

Hi Nick, In general, yes, this is something that could be done. That being said, I do have a few questions to make sure it can support this:

    – Weekly Schedule does not currently handle shows that cross the midnight line very well. Does your station broadcast shows that cross over midnight?

    – Are you looking at displaying a full 24-hour grid all at once?

Weekly Schedule can handle multiple schedules (for example, you could use 3 or 4 schedule to have shows for this week, then the following week. As you roll into week 2, you could play around with shortcodes to prepare week 3, then shift week 2 to display on current week page, and shift week 3 to become week 2, without ever having an empty program grid.

If the limitations of the plugin don’t work well with your needs, I also offer custom plugin development services where I could build a more custom solution for your needs. For example, if your server cannot export csv, I could ingest other data formats from your server directly.

    Thank you Yannick,

It looks like there is no way to export the program schedule from our Aavelin Composer into any format, let alone a CSV file.

Therefore, my boss is just going to cut and paste her line-by-line text of the schedule by day from a Word document directly into the webpage for now, which is what she does on our old website.

However, I’m going to work with our Director of IT & Operations to see if we can upgrade our old broadcast titling system (the Aavelin Composer) to something a bit more modern that might suit our needs—maybe even with a portal that can pipe the schedule directly to your plug-in.

I will let you know if we get that far.

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond. I hope that we will be able to use your plug-in in the future; it looks great!

    Cheers,
    Nick
