Importer does not recognize import file (WXR/WXR version)

    I’ve exported my WordPress blog (personal installation) by the wordpress importer plugin and imported it to an new wordpress blog (hosted by www.remarpro.com) and everything went fine.
    But then I re-installed my WordPress blog and tried to import my previous WordPress export XML file and now it’s not recognized any more (I tried several export files).
    I’m always getting the same error message (in German): “Entschuldigung, es ist ein Fehler aufgetreten. Dies scheint keine WXR Datei zu sein, die WXR Versionsnummer fehlt oder ist ungültig.” (“sorry, error occured. This seems to be no WXR file, WXR version number is missing or invalid”).
    The XML export file indeed contains a WXR version number (v1.2) so I don’t know what to do.
